Emerging Critics FAQ
When & where will the program be held?
The Emerging Critics Program will be held virtually on October 2 - 6, 2023.
Who should apply to the program?
Anyone interested in engaging in literary criticism can participate in the program. Priority will be given to marginalized voices, including writers of color, women and non-binary writers.
Is the program open only for writers of color?
The Emerging Critics Program is open for marginalized voices, and more specifically for women, non-binary writers and writers of color.
What is the application period?
Applications open in June, with a priority deadline of July 20th (the last day to apply for the program is July 31st). All applications received by the priority deadline will be eligible for fellowships.
Do you offer fellowships?
Every year, we offer several partial fellowships. The number of fellowships varies based on available funds; applications must be submitted by the priority deadline to be eligible for fellowships.
What are the fees to attend the program?
The program costs $1,200. In addition to the Emerging Critics Program, interested participants will have Anaphora’s support until they’ve successfully established themselves in the field. There is no fee to apply for the program.
Can international participants apply?
Yes, applications are open to all, regardless of location and status; international writers are eligible to apply for fellowships as well.
